Happy December 1st! It is officially the season of candy canes, hot chocolate, Christmas trees, apple cider, twinkle lights, Santa Claus, Christmas music, packed malls, gift wrapping, hugging, caroling, eggnog, mistletoe, parties, celebrations and overall loveliness! This is my favorite time of the year. The atmosphere just seems to change for some reason. Life seems happier, more joyful, less dreary! Perhaps it is because we are around the people we love more, or because we all love getting lavished with Christmas gifts, or maybe it comes from the small joys, such as experiencing the first snow, buying a Christmas gift for a friend, baking cookies late at night with your sisters.. I don’t know exactly what it is, but its there. No one can deny it. But, to tell you the truth, I have always had my own personal philosophy about the joyful ambiance that comes with Christmas time. Don’t get angry if your opinions differ, but I have always believed that deep down inside we are joyful because of the birth of Jesus Christ. Wherever Christ is, there is joy there also. Wherever Christ is, there is hope there also. Half the time, we are being comforted by Jesus and we don’t even know it. We are being protected, herded, shaped and sought, and most of the time we are oblivious to this. So, I think deep down, it is the feeling of Jesus’ presence that makes the world seem happier and brighter around Christmas time…. Which truly should be all about Jesus anyway. I know its cheesy, and I don’t usually like to say these cliche words, but He is the reason for the season.
